{"id":200,"date":"2011-11-29T10:33:55","date_gmt":"2011-11-29T14:33:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.bulletpattern.com\/?p=200"},"modified":"2011-11-29T10:35:40","modified_gmt":"2011-11-29T14:35:40","slug":"tko-new-characaters","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blog.bulletpattern.com\/?p=200","title":{"rendered":"TKO &#8211; new characaters"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Update<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s hard to believe the last update to TKO was over a year ago but we got to make another <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cartoonnetwork.com\/games\/tko\/index.html\">TKO update for the Ben 10\/Generator Rex cross over<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>We added the following bots:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Upgrade Rex (Ben 10\/Rex crossover)<\/li>\n<li>Bobo Haha (Generator Rex)<\/li>\n<li>Van Kleiss\u00a0(Generator Rex)<\/li>\n<li>Agent Six\u00a0(Generator Rex)<\/li>\n<li>Clockwork (Ben 10)<\/li>\n<li>Shocksquatch (Ben 10)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We also added 2 new backgrounds and music tracks.<\/p>\n<p>Again, we made new bots by recycling and\u00a0shifting\u00a0around existing moves but it resulted in some interesting combinations and created whole new dynamics.<\/p>\n<p>As part of this update, though it went out earlier, our engineers fixed a huge lag issue that was\u00a0introduced\u00a0with the plug-in version of Flash Player 10.1.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Balance Update<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There were some minor balance changes made as well to even out the bots<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Vilgax &amp; Ultimate Echo Echo projectile recovery increased slightly<\/li>\n<li>Chowder&#8217;s hitbox for his Kimchi attack is a bit larger<\/li>\n<li>Zak&#8217;s claw has a better hitbox and slightly more damage<\/li>\n<li>Big Chill&#8217;s freeze moves do slightly more damage<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Looking at the balance data was very interesting. When we introduced all the new\u00a0Ultimate\u00a0Aliens (Release\u00a04 on the chart) for 10\/10\/10, ALL\u00a0existing\u00a0characters&#8217;\u00a0win percentages dropped sharply. The new bots win percentages were spread evenly throughout. After about 90 days everything evened out again, though new powerhouses like Ultimate Echo Echo remain high.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.bulletpattern.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Screen-shot-2011-11-29-at-Nov-29-9.32.13-AM.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-201\" title=\"TKO win %\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.bulletpattern.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Screen-shot-2011-11-29-at-Nov-29-9.32.13-AM.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"556\" height=\"289\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blog.bulletpattern.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Screen-shot-2011-11-29-at-Nov-29-9.32.13-AM.png 926w, http:\/\/blog.bulletpattern.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Screen-shot-2011-11-29-at-Nov-29-9.32.13-AM-300x155.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 556px) 100vw, 556px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I find this extremely interesting since it&#8217;s the exact opposite that I would expect. I would expect players playing the new, unknown bots to lose to\u00a0players\u00a0playing their old familiar favorites. I suppose learning the new\u00a0bots\u00a0is more difficult for the opponent than the player?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Still Fighting<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>While TKO is an old product for CN.com, it\u00a0performs\u00a0very well. I was very happy when a player contacted when about a month before the\u00a0release\u00a0asking, &#8220;TKO is dead, right?&#8221;, and I was able to reply with a resounding &#8220;NO!
